The world is using far too much single use plastic, if you saw Blue Planet last year you will remember the heart breaking scenes captured by Sir David Attenborough and the crew. The BBC’s One Show highlighted the issue further last night by filling the studio with plastic waste collected from beaches across the country, 8.7 tonnes of it in fact, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
It is predicted that if we carry on at the current rate by 2050, our oceans will be made up of more plastic than fish.
If we are to tackle this global crisis we must all to our bit to protect our planet for future generations and the promotional merchandise industry has a role to play. Here at T King Associates we have a wide range of promotional products that will market your brand whilst considering the environmental impact. Check out our top tips on promoting your brand without costing the Earth!
Ditch the Takeaway Coffee Cup
In the UK alone, it is estimated that we use around 7 million disposable coffee cups every day, or 2.5 billion every year! Your average take away cup is waterproofed by the use a coating of polyethylene. Unfortunately, this makes the cup very difficult to recycle and here in the UK we only have a very limited number of facilities that can effectively carry out the process.
We’re not asking you or your client to do without the all essential caffeine hit (I don’t feel very human before my morning coffee) but you can encourage your clients to use one of a huge range of reusable cups. What’s more, many retailers are now offering a discount on using these, so there are savings to be made for both customer and planet alike.
Design with More Bottle
Water bottles have a huge potential to reduce waste but only if people remember to use them, so go for something stylish that people will enjoy using again and again. We have an extensive range to suit every price point, from the basic to real statement pieces that can be laser engraved.
These are also perfect for the upcoming festival season. Bottled drinks are often very expensive on festival sites, but free water points are often available, therefore a promotional bottle will be very much appreciated by your clients!
Make Your Own Lunch
With our hectic lifestyles, how many of us grab a quick supermarket lunch on the go regularly? That plastic wrapper on your sandwich or your one time use fork can sometimes be recycled, but let’s be honest, how often does it end up straight in the bin? What’s more, many of these grab it and go lunches are often found to have unhealthy amounts of added sugar and salt. So why not encourage your clients to have a lunch that’s healthier for both them and the environment, with our range of food storage options.
Replace Plastic Carrier Bags for Eco Friendly Alternatives
In October 2015 larger retailers began charging 5p for single use carrier bags and as of January this year this charge has now been rolled out to all retailers. This is fantastic opportunity to encourage the use of reusable bags. Here at T King Associates we have a wide range of jute, canvas, paper and even felt bags which can be branded to your specifications.
Use Recycled Materials
We have a number of goods that have been created with recycled materials and saved from landfill.
We hope you found these ideas helpful, if you have any questions, drop us a line on firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to help!
